Common Issues
Screenshot is blank or incomplete
Cause: The page uses iframes or cross-origin content that the browser restricts Brie from capturing.
Fix: Try using Window capture mode instead of Fullscreen. For cross-origin iframes, the iframe content may appear as a blank area — this is a browser security restriction, not a Brie bug.
Video recording won't start
Cause: Your browser may not have granted screen recording permissions to the extension.
Fix:
- Click the Brie icon and try starting a recording again.
- When the browser's sharing dialog appears, make sure to select the correct tab or screen.
- On macOS, check System Preferences > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording and ensure your browser is listed and enabled.
Extension icon is grayed out
Cause: Brie cannot run on certain browser pages (e.g., chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, or browser internal pages).
Fix: Navigate to a regular web page. Brie will become active automatically.
Session replay is empty
Cause: Rewind was not enabled when you visited the page, or you're on a page in the automatic denylist (login pages, payment pages, etc.).
Fix: Make sure Rewind is toggled on in the popup. Then reload the page and try again. Check that the page isn't on the automatic denylist (see Session Recording Privacy).
Slices aren't syncing
Cause: You may be offline, or your authentication token may have expired.
Fix: Check your internet connection. Click the Brie icon — if you see a sign-in prompt, sign in again to refresh your session.
